Corporate Training and Seminars
|
Hi I am Sheila,
Thank you for your interest in my Training & Seminar Programs.
I try to offer programs that will motivate your employee's to: at the very least do the job that you pay them to do. I
know that sounds some what harsh but the reality is, that today, it is extremely hard to find employee's who care
about their jobs. Where I had the option of doing without them, you may not have such a luxury, so my job will be, to do
my best to get them Moving & Productive for you in a way that is as painless for them as possible.
The tactics that we have used in the past to instill employee productivity i.e loyalty, team work, craftsmanship, pride
in what we do, we are family etc... No longer work, so now we have to get a little tougher, because while you are
taking the high ground, your employees might be taking the low ground, and that could leave you @ a slight
disadvantage.
My programs are designed (in plain down to earth language) to bring into view the low ground employees &
reward the one who have been taking the high ground with public acknowledgment, a small bonus (that comes
out of my fees) &/or just better training.
I offer several different: speaking points, areas of consultation & training
opinions. You select the one(s) that will help best accomplish the maintenance
goals you have set.
- Head of Housekeeping/Maintance Consultation: To get their take on why things aren't what they should be,
and find out what their solutions of situations would be. I let them know from the beginning, that I am not there to judge, but that I understand how hard it can be to make the tough calls with people you see every day and like. So let me be the hit man. I don't mind if they hate me. [ 1 Hour ]
- Tour of Facility: Where I can get a sense of the type of maintain you & your facility requires to meet your goals.
I also take notes of areas that are well & not so well maintained & find out Who is responsible for these area. [ 1- 2 hours ]
- Public Acknowledgement: I feel very strongly about calling "a spade a spade" Once a month we (Sheila's
Housecleaning Service) had a company meeting @ our local all-you-can-eat breakfast bar (I picked up the tab + paid all employees for their time while we were there). I acknowledged new clients, introduced new employees and pointed out possible new hires who were waiting for an opening . I then read the results of "spot checks" for that month. The exceptionally maintained properties were acknowledged and the employee(s) responsible was given a small bonus check on the spot ($20.00). The properties that were the worst maintained were also acknowledged along with the names of the employee(s) that were responsible.
Now at this point there were a few hurt feeling, but, I have always considered it more important to care for those employees who were doing their jobs and doing them well, then to waste my time worrying about the hurt feeling of a few employee's who's feelings weren't apparent when it came to taking the company's money each week (in the form of a paycheck) knowing full well they had not earned them. That is why the possible new hires were introduced @ the meeting ( there is nothing like seeing what could be your replacement staring you in the face for motivation ) The employees who were worth keeping asked for help & extra training, the others quit on the spot. And what I had left were employee who realized they were going to be held accountable! and were OK with it because they did their jobs.
Now, should you have to give a bonus on top of what you pay people just for them to do their jobs? No, but what other choices do you have? You can't do without them & the company dinners, tee shirts, water bottles etc... that you hand out to inspire loyalty are accepted but laughed at behind you back. What they want is money. But you still have the right to choose who gets your money & the power to demand a few things in return for it. [1 Hour]
THIS IS HARD BALL & NOT EVERYONE CAN PLAY. DEPENDS ON HOW BADLY YOU NEED IT DONE RIGHT.
- TIME MANAGEMENT: I am always amazed when I meet people, who have jobs that require a specific amount of
"task completion" in a "limited amount of time" who don't wear watches. I explain how you can work smart & make every step count without rushing or breaking a sweat, but that it will include timing yourself in the beginning.
- ETHICS, ACCOUNTABILITY& RESPONSIBILITY: A fleshed out heart to heart talk based on the old
parable "never bite the hand that feed you" [30 minuets]
- CLEANING TIPS: based on information given to me by your head housekeeper, things I have noticed while there
& questions asked by your staff during this session [30 min-1 Hr]
